• Spine Animator Needed [Harmony to Spine]

Hello EmJay,

I'm interested in your offer and would like to hear more! 🙂

I do think I have good attention to detail.
I'm not afraid of complex rigs/characters and could push render quality far.
Always aiming towards detailed, smooth and logic movements.

I have 4 years of Spine 2D experience (Spine is my main animation app now).
Around 8 years of experience animating various 2D stuff using Adobe After Effects and Flash.
I used to draw a lot so preparing layers and additional art (using Photoshop) for animation is easy for me.

I'm in love with high frame rate animations, but I'm ok with frame-by-frame like animations too.
BUT (!) I do lack Toon Boon experience - but, maybe it is not that necessary, huh?

Let me know more!
Thanks! 🙂

Hi Emilijus!

I've always really enjoyed that coffin zombie animation of yours. 😉

I agree that you have good attention to detail, and I would be happy to include you in my list of recommendations for Relish to consider! Erika recommended that I include you as well. 🙂

I also don't really have Toon Boom experience, but the process of converting the Toon Boom rig to Spine is something that I will be carefully documenting so anyone who takes over the job can follow the tutorial step-by-step.

Working with Relish is only on an as-needed basis, so I've always worked with them while also working on freelance work for other clients. But they usually have a pretty reliable stream of projects from month to month. and right now they have a higher volume of work than usual that will need to be done, so whoever takes over should hopefully be kept reasonably busy for a while.

I don't have final say in who Relish decides to contract to replace me, but I'm giving them a small handful of strong applicants to consider, and I will be putting you on that list. Best of luck!

Hey EmJay,

That is really nice to hear, haha!
Thank you for your kind words 🙂

All is clear!
I could add that I'm just out of few, 1-3 year long, remote jobs where I was working as full-time (sort of) Spine 2D animator. So yeah, I'm interested to find another reliable client, or even few of them, just to fill up my schedule as I became used to during the years.

So thank you for your help and offer! :coffee:

P.S. - Do you have any portfolio or personal projects?
P.P.S. - Any oppinion/comments on my latest Spine animation "Stone Golem" (which is still a bit work in progress)?

I know what it's like, trying to fill out your schedule with freelance clients. It can also be exhausting if you end up with too many clients wanting work at the same time!

Here's my Vimeo and LinkedIn. Also, here's some random more recent projects.

I really like the Stone Golem animation a lot. It's especially impressive that you got that much out of Satoshi's original illustration, since I went to his gallery to see his work. The animation has a lot of great depth that can be difficult to achieve in Spine, and you can really feel the consistent perspective of the ground plane.

In terms of how to make it stand out even more, I think it could be fun to add an Idle animation and maybe even an Attack (like rearing up and slamming the ground with its fist, if the rig would support it). Just as a way of showing off more flexibility and getting potential clients to imagine how something like that would fit in their game. But it's already a really great piece as-is!

Yes it is.
I remember my old impression when I started to work with my first full-time client. I felt that email writing and constant adjusting to each client was big waste of time and energy 🙂

Oh, I remember I was checking your Linkedin profile and other links some time ago. I see you got a lot of recommendations - do you think having a lot of them helps to attract new clients? 8)

Haha, maybe. But I'm not spending another week creating and polishing wastly different animation for the same character, haha :wounded:

I do feel my portfolio is lacking specific action, attack, jump character animations. So I will definetly make something like that in future 🙂 🙂
