Thanks for the video.
The numeric text boxes show more precision in 3.8. Small numbers show more digits after the decimal point, larger numbers show fewer. This is only about the display of the numbers, the dragging functionality did not change. In 3.7 under the covers it had more precision (more numbers after the decimal point), it just didn't show it to you. This was a problem because if you selected the value in 3.7 and pressed enter or tab, it would set the value to the display value and you'd lose the precision. In 3.8 more precision is shown where possible and reduces this problem.
When adjusting scale it is usually done by dragging in the viewport until it looks like you want (the exact scale number is unimportant) OR by typing or copy/pasting keys or numeric values. I do not suggest trying to get a specific scale number value by dragging, even in 3.7. It only seemed like you could do that in 3.7. For example, in 3.7 you could drag so it displays scale 1.3
on two different keys, but under the covers your scale keys would have values like 1.32451
and 1.29346
.
One tip to quickly copy a key is to hold ctrl+shift
, then drag a key. This makes the original key stay and you'll be dragging a copy.
