Sorry you had such troubles in the 3.7 beta! I don't remember the exact issues you suffered. There is always some risk to using the beta. FWIW, using the beta and giving your feedback (and finding problems) earlier on is very helpful.
I'd like to think 3.8 is pretty stable, but a few big features (eg skin bones and constraints) are still relatively new. Also please note that not all the runtimes are up to date yet (though likely they will be in a few days).
We don't normally add new features to a non-beta release because it puts the stability of the app at risk. Even if it has been well tested in the beta, mucking around in the non-beta codebase always carries some risk. Sometimes the smallest, most innocent looking change breaks some entirely different part of the software in a way just subtle enough to be missed in testing but can be devastating for some users. Even if fixed quickly, it is much better that we don't disturb non-beta users as much as possible and focus on stability in the beta.
